Project Overview

Keystone Village will be a not-for-profit residential community located in Forsyth County, Georgia, created for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who need a supportive place to live. It will provide homes in an environment that is secure, active, and deeply connected to the surrounding community.

Where the
Project is today

The land for the future Keystone Village campus has been donated and secured.

The village zoning plan has been approved by county commissioners and is moving toward the pre-construction phase (site planning, infrastructure, and funding milestones).

Why now?
The Need For Keystone Village

Despite the landmark 1999 U.S. Supreme Court decision, Olmstead v. L.C., which affirmed the right of individuals with disabilities to live in the least restrictive environment possible, Georgians with IDD continue to face significant barriers to housing and independent living.

Current Reality:
In Georgia, an estimated 300,000 individuals live with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD).

In Forsyth County alone, a study identified 1,169 adults with IDD between the ages 18 and 64, 96% of whom live with family members or other guardians due to the absence of community or independent living options.

With many caregivers themselves aging—21% are over the age of 60 and 62% are between 45 and 59. Planning for long-term housing and support for their loved ones is urgent.

Who we serve

One of the first GA
intentional residential communities

Keystone Village is designed to cater to the diverse spectrum of the adult IDD population.

Unlike traditional models, which often segregate individuals based upon their needs and provide many of their support services in separate locations, Keystone Village embraces inclusivity and supports the diverse needs of all its residents.

This means individuals who live independently, or those who require supportive living, or need intensive, 24/7 care, will have housing options within the community and abundant opportunities to engage socially and build friendships consistent with each resident’s ability.
